With her early background in Human Resources and talent development, Dr. Richardson developed our course design approach as a result of her many years working in a variety of business sectors and learning venues. She grew frustrated when most training programs fell short of teaching employees what they needed to know and some university degrees missed the mark in teaching basic learning and critical thinking skills.
Once she became a university professor, she began to see patterns revealing where the curriculum flaws existed. Her course design skills have evolved greatly since those early years, but she also knows a good design today usually has a very short shelf-life. Updates to an individual course, a unit of courses in a concentration, and an entire program require continuous updates and innovative reengineering.
Our approach is simple, yet it produces profound results. We conduct research on course design trends in academia, business, and the arts in the U.S. and abroad. When we find a promising practice, we stress-test it and reengineer our model on a continuous basis.
